It’s happened to all of us at some point. You’re cruising down Bluff Street when you glance in the rearview mirror and—uh-oh—those flashing red and blue lights are right behind you! They’ve caught you.
What exactly is a Speed Trap?
According to Google, a speed trap is a section of road closely monitored by police or radar devices, often hidden, to catch speeding drivers. In simpler terms, it’s when officers park in sneaky spots, hoping to nab you for going over the speed limit!
Here are some of the MOST COMMON SPEED TRAP LOCATIONS in Southern Utah:

Westbound on Sunset Boulevard into Santa Clara:

The speed limit drops from 40 mph to 30 mph, and officers love to wait there, ready to ticket anyone who doesn’t slow down in time!
River Road Fire Station near Fiiz:

You might spot a cop car parked in the fire station driveway on River Road. The tricky part? Sometimes there’s no one actually in the car… or maybe that’s what they want us to think!
