What Makes a Gas Station Your Favorite?
Is it the squeaky-clean bathrooms? How close it is to your house so you can roll in on fumes? Or maybe it’s the friendly staff who pretend not to judge your 3 a.m. snack choices. Whatever it is, St. George has spoken, and here are the gas stations locals just can’t get enough of! And before you come at me in the comments… I know some of these aren’t in St. George PROPER… But You know what I mean!
On The Run (Harts):
You can’t talk about gas stations in St. George without giving a nod to Hart’s! Sitting pretty on Red Cliffs Drive and Green Spring Drive, this place has been a community staple for ages. I practically grew up here—no joke! Weekly trips were a must when I was a kid. This spot has seriously earned its stripes. Recently, new ownership out of Canada took over and rebranded Harts to On The Run… But we still know it as Harts! I don’t care what anybody says!
Mr. D’s:
Ah, Mr. D’s… the gas station that’s been around since dinosaurs roamed the earth. Or at least, that’s how it feels. It’s on River Road in Bloomington Hills, and the funny thing is, no one’s entirely sure if it’s still called Mr. D’s, but everyone refers to it that way anyway. Tradition, right?
First Stop (Washington):
If you live in Washington, this is the go-to place for gas and treats. Sitting right in the heart of Telegraph, First Stop is basically the unofficial town mascot. Washington natives (aka Dogtowners) have probably stocked up on snacks here at least 100 times in their life. A local legend, to say the least!
Bloomington Market:
Talk about nostalgia! I’ve been hitting up this spot for over 25 years. This was where I rented “The Brave Little Toaster” on VHS as a kid, and now, well, I’m still there… just more for Taco Time these days. But let’s all take a moment of silence for the days when it used to be Taco Bell—what a time to be alive!
Dutchman’s Market (Santa Clara):
Oh, Dutchman’s! If you grew up in Santa Clara, this was the place. Plus, they’ve got a bakery that cranks out cookies you’ll dream about. Seriously, you haven’t lived until you’ve had one. It’s basically a local treasure.
Maverik (South River Road):
Okay, we all knew Maverik would make an appearance. But which one? Turns out, the MVP is the one on South River Road, right next to the OG Summit Athletic Club. People swear by this place—there’s always a line, but it’s worth the wait.
GONE BUT NOT FORGOTTEN: Red Cliffs Station:
Cue the nostalgia tears! So many people mentioned how much they miss Red Cliffs Station—aka EZ Shoppe. This legend even had a drive-thru long before places like Fabulous Freddy’s caught on. Sadly, it’s now been turned into a shopping center with a Starbucks and a Sleep Number Store. But we’ll always remember you, EZ Shoppe. Gone but never forgotten!
